If you were paying attention in one of the earlier episodes I posted, you might remember that we like traveling. With a baby on the way this hobby will need to be paused for a bit. But as every good act, we wanted to have one more trip before it got too difficult. We packed our bags, picked our destination and off we went for our baby moon trip.
It wasn’t anything too fancy or luxurious. The idea was to have one final trip before the baby arrives. Destination was also picked in a way that made traveling as easy and as short as possible to accommodate the needs of a pregnant woman. The trip itself was fine, no major issues. It was an interesting journey though, we went to a neighbouring country that in reality is not that different. Things we’ve seen on the road was a real eye opener. It was a region I personally never have visited so it was a real eyeopener to see how much different it is 50 km’s away in a different direction from our home.
Upon arriving to our destination, I was in for another culture shock. Not saying it was that bad but still, in 2024 you wouldn’t expect to get the feeling that you are back in the 90’s. Besides this initial impression the cold, grey weather definitely didn’t help. On our first day it was mainly raining so we were mainly restricted to our hotel. It gave us time to relax away from our normal lives and reflect a bit on the previous months and coming to grasp that we’re becoming parents.
From the 2nd day onwards things got a bit better. Weather significantly improved and the region revealed it’s stunning nature and views. The main reason why we picked this destination in the first place. Also with better weather we were able to go out for walks and explore our surroundings a bit more. The more the days went past the more I personally enjoyed it and that initial shock faded away. Overall it was a good choice and left us with interesting and memorable memories.
Little did we know that the most memorable part was yet to come. On our way home we picked a different route then the one we arrived on. We wanted to be more adventurous and use the opportunity to the max. Well it was definitely an adventure when 20km’s from the border our car decided to break down with no warning and just refuse to start again leaving us stranded in the middle of nowhere. After several hours of waiting and multiple phone calls our rescue finally arrived in the form of an old, dirty, slightly rusty car trailer to take us back home.
Well, it wasn’t home, it was another city, still far from home but it was better than another country. After solving the first issue the car still needed fixing, luckily the people who picked us up also had a mechanic who agreed to come in early on a Saturday morning and fix the car so we can be on our way. You wanted an adventure for our baby moon trip, we got it, it’s a memory we’ll remember forever.
